Dr. Baugh received her bachelor’s degree from Dillard University, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and went on to complete Medical School, Internship, and Residency training at the University of Tennessee, College of Health Sciences in Memphis, Tennessee. Later, Dr. Baugh assumed a Clinical Consultancy practice in Melbourne Florida, and was appointed Medical Director. She served as Consultant in Internal Medicine at University Center Imaging and at Melbourne Internal Medicine Associates, (MIMA) Melbourne, Florida. 

 

Dr. Baugh was the first female Internist to join MIMA which was then the largest medical group in the area.  Later, she joined the faculty as the First Woman of Color on the faculty in the division of Internal Medicine. During her tenure at Vanderbilt, she also served as Medical Director for the Psychiatric Hospital of Vanderbilt. Her interests in Preventive Health, Risk Prevention, and Management and her focus on decreasing health disparities resulted in the Founding of The Medical Foundation, which funded medical missions to West Africa and the Caribbean. She was appointed to the Public Health Emergency Advisory Committee by Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen from 2006-2010. 

 

Later, she returned to Jamaica and has played a pivotal role as President & CEO of the Heart Institute of the Caribbean, (HIC) to improve access to healthcare. She has served as President of the Heart Institute of the Caribbean and has overseen HIC’s individually tailored heart disease prevention and wellness programs. She has also served as Chairman of the Heart Institute of the Caribbean Foundation (HICF) to improve access to, and the quality of cardiovascular care to the people of Jamaica and the region. Under her direction, HICF has granted free or subsidized care in excess of $12 million. She has co-authored a book as well as written multiple publications in peer-reviewed international medical journals. Elected to the Medical Council of Jamaica in 2016, Dr. Baugh chairs the Public Relations Committee
