Dr. Chinyere Anyaogu is the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, New York Health + Hospitals/ North Central Bronx Hospital, a facility in the largest public health system in United States. She is the Vice Chairperson of the Department of OBGYN, and Assistant Professor of OBGYN at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, member of the NYC Maternal Morbidity and Mortality Committee, and the NYC M3 subcommittee on Mental Health.
Following her medical training at the University of Nigeria, she completed two residencies in Internal Medicine and OBGYN at Montefiore Medical Center /Albert Einstein University. Later she obtained a Master’s in Public Health from Columbia University. As a healthcare leader, she is dedicated in advancing the healthcare and quality programs, including Baby Friendly, Safe Sleep Certification, Postpartum education on preeclampsia.
As Deputy Chief Medical Officer, she is leading the frontlines battling the COVID-19 pandemic, intimately involved in critical decisions regarding resource allocation and strengthening of the healthcare infrastructure. She is a women’s health researcher involved in several grants, most recently for $2.4 million for Teen Options to Prevent Pregnancy in New York City.
She is a member of Association of Nigeria Physicians of the Americas and is currently the President Elect for 2020-2022.
