Ose Oyamendan is a Nigerian-American filmmaker based between Los Angeles, Lagos and London. His award winning and critically acclaimed Middle East feature documentary, ASWAT ACHERIM (OTHER VOICES) was released in North American theaters in 2021. The film explores unlikely war zone friendships in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict between residents of Sderot and their neighbors in Gaza. He is a graduate of the prestigious film program at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. 

 

Prior to studying at the USC SCHOOL OF CINEMATIC ARTS, Ose was a Program Associate at AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL USA where he worked extensively with the Administration, Congress, and the State Department. The experience influenced his one-hour drama, 200 SOUTH CAPITOL which was optioned by Fox Broadcasting Corporation. He has written, produced, or directed over a dozen projects worldwide through his production company, O2A Media Inc and for other production companies. O2A Media Inc has production offices in the USA, Britain, Nigeria, Kenya, Israel, Palestine, and Nepal. He currently has several films, television and digital projects in different stages of production. 

 

His projects have played on television, cable, satellite and in over 60 film festivals worldwide, starting with his graduate thesis film, A FINAL WISH,  which was licensed by Apple as part of the Halloween collection on iTunes. Ose gained valuable studio and business experience at UNIVERSAL PICTURES where he worked on several projects, including THE MUMMY SERIES. He has won awards for his projects from several film festivals including Tribeca, Rome and Worldfest Houston. He has presented his work before prestigious international organizations, parliaments, and heads of government.  In 2012, he was named OGILVY & MATHER’s Creative Consultant for Africa. In that role, he wrote, and executive produced many of the agency’s commercials, with direct oversight over AIRTEL—one of the agency’s largest accounts in Africa.

 

Before film, politics, and advocacy, Ose worked as a journalist  for newspapers and television stations on four continents including BBC; NIGERIAN TELEVISION AUTHORITY; WEEKEND CONCORD; ASSOCIATED PRESS and FRANKFURTER ALLGEMEINE. In 2018, he founded NOLLYWOOD IN HOLLYWOOD, a showcase in Hollywood of the top Nigerian films in association with the University of Southern California and the American Cinematheque, operators of the historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. NOLLYWOOD IN HOLLYWOOD has quickly grown into the largest African cultural showcase in North America, with coverage in several media including the LA Times and CNN. Ose continues to promote Nigerian projects and talents in the world’s capital of entertainment.

 

He is currently working on a feature documentary that investigates the 1990s political crisis in Nigeria with a seasoned crew that includes a three-time Academy award winner.
